John Gault

Energy Economist at Graduate Institute Geneva
Dr. John Gault is an independent economist based in Switzerland. He assists clients in the energy industries with investment decisions, the design and negotiation of contracts, and corporate planning.
He previously served as Managing Director, IEDConsultants SA and Chief Economist of the International Energy Development Corporation (IEDC) group, now part of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
Prior to joining IEDC in Geneva in 1982, Dr. Gault was affiliated with the Boston-based energy-consulting firm of Jensen Associates, Inc. Dr. Gault is a graduate of Yale University and holds a PhD in Economics and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard. He has taught economics at the American University of Beirut and Bir Zeit University (West Bank), and is the author of numerous publications concerning taxation and fiscal systems, government price regulation, the economics of exhaustible resources, the politics of international oil trade, and methods of designing appropriate contractual terms.
Dr. Gault co-founded the Montreux Energy series of international conferences. He is a Director of Tidal Electric, Inc., and serves on the Executive Committee of the Journal of World Energy Law and Business (published by Oxford University Press and the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators). He is also co-director of the program in international oil and gas leadership at The Graduate Institute.

Pablo Fernandez is an international executive with extensive experience on environmental commodities, renewable energy and Climate Change areas. Pablo has a Master Degree (MSc) in environmental and energy planning at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a MBA at Business School Lausanne (BSL).
During his 15 years of career Pablo also acted as a technical advisor to UN bodies and he has held different senior positions in Brazil, Malaysia and Switzerland. During this period Pablo witnessed booms and burst of environmental commodities markets, the development of new renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar and participated on some of the international conferences for the negotiations of the climate change deals that will shape our future.
Pablo is currently based in Geneva working on New Business Development of environmental commodities at Mercuria.


Dominik BREITINGER

Managing Director at World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD)
Dominik Breitinger joined the WBCSD three years ago to manage the Action2020 project. The latter became WBCSD’s new strategy and organizational structure.
Since then, he is leading the member engagement team. In this role, Mr. Breitinger is responsible for the engagement of WBCSD’ 200 member companies, for the set-up of new projects of strategic relevance as well as the local offices the organization so far maintains in North America and India.
Prior to WBCSD, Mr. Breitinger worked for Accenture Strategy for several years where he had been lastly responsible for Sustainability in Switzerland. His primary consulting experience includes Corporate Strategy, Valuation and Merger & Acquisitions.
Educated in Business and Economics, Mr. Breitinger holds Bachelor and Master Degrees from WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management as well as a Ph.D. from HEC Lausanne, with distinction from Oxford University


Lennart Kallsen

Born 18th of April 1979, I am Head of RP (Renewable Products) Sales Europe and APAC since October 2014, responsible for the Neste’s Sales activities in Renewable Products family.
Following my University studies in BA and Mathematics in Hamburg I began my career as Biodiesel Trader in Mabanaft, based in Hamburg in 2005. Starting 2007 I moved, again in the position of a Biodiesel Trader, to Louis Dreyfus Commodities in Geneva. Here I was responsible for building outlets in Europe for production plants in Argentina and the USA as well as facilitating the integration and startup of a Biodiesel and crushing plant in Germany.
In July 2010, I joined Neste in Geneva where I was part of the team managing the startup of the Renewable Diesel plants in Rotterdam and Singapore and building a market for Renewable Diesel in the EU.

Matthew Monteverde has more than a decade of experience analysing global energy markets. His career began in New York where he focused on the rapidly changing US wholesale gas and power markets before shifting attention to Europe. Matthew was a long serving editor of Argus European Natural Gas, a leading source of analysis, news and prices for the European market. He has also served as Argus’ senior analyst and now works as its Vice President for commodities markets.


Nick Beglinger

Graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science ( LSE ).
In 2009, the economist Nick Beglinger creates with Bertrand Piccard the Swisscleantech  association ( www.swisscleantech.ch ).
The objective of the association is to federate all the economic players of the Swiss territory who support actively the orientation of the country in favor of Cleantech. The association advocates a sustainable and liberal economic policy. Swisscleantech counts more than 300 companies and about twenty members.

André Schneider, after having been a professional musician in major classical orchestras, developed his first experiences when IBM decided to go into services and asked him to create an IT consulting practice in Geneva, working throughout Europe; he then expanded his experience joining the World Economic Forum and was instrumental during his 12 years in creating the world’s leading global multi-stakeholder platform and finally globalizing this concept by expanding it around the world, with special emphasis on China and the Middle East. With his advisory, André has been quickly developing projects and thought leadership in many important issues around sustainable development, like renewable energies, sustainable competitiveness, sustainable mobility, sustainable infrastructure grading and financing and social banking. On August 1, 2013, André has joined EPFL, as Vice-
President for Planning and Logistics. André is also the chairman of World Climate Ltd, the world’s leading media and events platform to accelerate the development of
the global green economy; Chairman of equal-salary, providing a certification of equal compensation for women and men; and Vice-Chairman of Global Infrastructure Basel, the sustainable infrastructure forum and summit.
