Dr. Matthias Spaink is a regional manager focusing on flows of feed and food grains to Middle East and Africa at Cargill’s World Trading Group based in Geneva. In addition to his corporate responsibilities, he lectures International Business at universities in Europe and Asia.
Matthias has been involved in business development and physical trading of commodities since 1998. He has been doing business in 80 countries on 6 continents. Prior to joining Cargill in 2010, he worked for 12 years in various international commercial management positions at Dutch-based multinational dairy company Royal Friesl and Campina.
He holds a PhD in Business Administration from Nyenrode Business University (NL), an MSc in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam (NL) and an MBA from Maastricht University (NL).
Managing Director at Magma Oil
Mohab Kamel is the managing director of Magma Oil Sàrl, a Geneva based Oil Consultancy. He has been active in many facets of the oil sphere, from physical and paper trading to asset acquisition. Through his experience, he has realized oil trading is closed to outside investors and he intends to provide this access by launching an oil trading fund.
He started his trading career in 2000 at Sempra Energy. From there on, as the commodity “super cycle” took hold, crisis after crisis shook the market, and he witnessed its rise to US$ 147, as well as its collapse and eventual resurrection while working at Mercuria. He has also worked for Koch, the Eiger Fund and Highlander. He holds a Bsc. In Economics from the London School of Economics.”
Head of Europe Compliance at Olam
Emma Culley is currently the EU Head of Market Compliance and Global Manager Legal Compliance and Operations for Olam International Limited, where she is responsible for managing the Global Ethics and Compliance program and EU Financial Regulatory Compliance. During her 30 year career Emma has worked in the Energy and Softs commodities industry. Following graduating from The University of Edinburgh with a degree in Chemical Engineering, her career has been split between contract negotiations, trading and compliance management roles.
She has been directly involved in some of the major industry events; the ‘dash for gas’ as power companies negotiated some of the first dedicated gas field sales contracts; established a team for the first sales of gas to industrial firms; involved in the establishment of the Network Code, NBP, first gas trading and REMIT. Since then she has implemented compliance programs in the 3 UK regulated energy companies and, as Global Manager, Commercial Compliance for ConocoPhillips, ensured the successful implementation of a compliance programs to address Dodd-Frank and is now back in the UK addressing MiFID II and MAR controls.
Group Tax Officer at MSC
Olivier Straub is Group Tax Officer and Political Affairs Director of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company group.
Graduated from Law Universities of Nancy and Paris (France), Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris and INSEAD, Olivier was Tax Attorney-at-Law in Paris before moving to Switzerland in 2004 joining KPMG as tax consultant. After being the Head of Indirect Tax of JTI, he has been appointed Group Tax Officer in MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company in 2011.
In this position, Olivier Straub is in charge of defining the group tax strategy for all businesses (cargo, cruise, terminal, logistics) focusing mainly on the new tax trends and challenges impacting MSC as well as all multinational groups (BEPS,…). He is also active in some lobbying actions at different levels (EU, Switzerland…).
CFO at INOKS Capital
Ivan began his career in 2002 at a law firm specialized in corporate and sports law, before transitioning to a major audit firm based in Geneva to develop his corporate acumen. Here, he supervised the audit of several local SMEs, and later used this experience as CFO of a family-owned company of 60 employees, pioneering the lightning industry, that he helped modernize and restructure.
In 2008 he joined INOKS with the same mission, spearheading the company’s registration process with FINMA, whilst also completing his EMBA in 2013 and Diploma in Commodity Trading in 2014. He is the firm’s CFO and sits on the Board of Directors as well as the Investment Committee, overseeing both the investment and investor activities of the business.
Ivan holds a Master’s of Law from the University of Geneva and several finance certificates. Through his Ukrainian and Croatian origins and multicultural upbringing he is fluent in French, English, Croatian and German.

Richard has extensive experience in all areas of shipping, trading, insurance, finance and legal matters. Richard started his career in Trading in 2000 working for two of the leading independent Rice Trading companies. During this time Richard worked in various sectors of the business including contract execution; legal, insurance and shipping (time charter and voyage).
In 2008 Richard created HR Maritime, based in Geneva to provide bespoke professional services to the trading and shipping community. At the same time, Richard became a Fellow of ICS (The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers).
