IMO 2020 : Challenges and Opportunities The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is implementing a global sulphur cap for marine fuels that will have a significant impact on shipping and commodity markets. On 1st January, 2020, ships will have to use marine fuels with a sulphur content of no more than 0.50% against the current limit of 3.5% in order to reduce the amount of sulphur oxide.
